ISO 50001 — Reduce energy costs
Professional implementation of ISO 50001 Energy Management System and internal audit for your company.

What is ISO 50001?
ISO 50001:2018 is an international standard that systematizes and introduces the scheme of action in the field of energy consumption. It allows strategic planning, monitoring and improvement of activities, as well as meeting legal requirements and customer expectations. The implementation of an energy management system is a key element of business strategy in companies that strive to reduce costs, minimize emissions and achieve sustainability goals.
Companies that have consumed more than 85 TJ of energy (23,611 MWh) in the last 3 years must implement a certified energy management system according to the standard described in ISO 50001 by October 11, 2027. Entities consuming more than 10 TJ (2,778 MWh) per year on average, but less than 85 TJ are required to undergo energy audits every 4 years. However, they may be exempted from this obligation if they decide to implement an energy management system that complies with ISO 50001.
Energy management is no longer just a matter of ecology. Rising energy prices and legislative pressure make the lack of a systemic approach a real cost. At VIVERNO we combine legal requirements with economics — we help you set measurable goals, train expert teams and build automated processes. The result of our work is an effective tool for improving energy efficiency and reducing costs. The developed system is ready to pass certification, which is conducted by an independent entity.

Do you have any questions? We have the answers!
What is an energy review?
It is a detailed analysis of how and where energy is consumed in an organization. This allows you to identify the areas, processes and equipment with the greatest impact on costs and select priority actions to improve efficiency.
Who is required to implement the ISO 50001 energy management system?
Companies whose average annual energy consumption in the last three years exceeded 85 TJ (23,611 MWh) are required to implement a certified energy management system according to ISO 50001. The deadline to meet this requirement is 11 October 2027.
Companies whose average annual energy consumption exceeds 10 TJ (2 778 MWh) but does not reach 85 TJ are required to carry out regular energy audits every four years. However, if they implement an energy management system that complies with ISO 50001, they may be exempt from the obligation to carry out audits.
Is it necessary to take into account all locations and processes?
Yes, if we want the company to be exempted from performing an energy audit.
How often should an energy review be carried out?
The energy review should be carried out at certain intervals, most often it is carried out once a year - as in the case of a management review. In addition, the review should be carried out in the event of significant changes in the functioning of the organization.
What are the main benefits of implementing and certifying ISO 50001?
The company has a system that allows monitoring and optimization of energy consumption, meets legal requirements in this area and constantly improves energy efficiency. This is also a strong argument in tenders and negotiations with contractors.
How long does it take to implement the requirements of the standard?
The implementation of requirements is a process that depends on the size and nature of the business, the degree of complexity of the processes, the available resources and the level of maturity of the organization in the area of management.
I have implemented the ISO 50001 standard. Does this exempt me from the obligation to carry out energy audits in the company?
The implementation of the standard alone is not enough, in addition, it is necessary to obtain ISO 50001 certification from an independent accredited certification body. The certificate must be renewed every 3 years, going through external supervision audits annually. In order to be exempted from the obligation to perform an energy audit throughout the enterprise, the certificate must cover all processes and locations.
How often are external audits carried out in ISO 50001?
The certification is valid for 3 years, with annual supervision audits that must be carried out on a mandatory basis to maintain the validity of the certificate.
Should an energy review be reported to the ERU?
Energy review under ISO 50001 does not require notification to the ERU.
What is the certification process like?
After the selection of the certification body, an external certification audit is carried out, which is divided into two stages. After a positive assessment of both stages, the enterprise receives a certificate, which is valid for 3 years, subject to annual supervision audits.
Does ISO 50001 certification have to be made public?
If an enterprise has a valid ISO 50001 certificate, it must be kept together with the system documentation and made available to interested parties (most often on the website or at the headquarters of the organization). For inspections, a current certificate issued by an accredited certification body shall be made available.
