The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) is preparing to launch the next edition of the program “Support for energy-intensive industries”which will take off July 1, 2026and will end on 30 September 2027 (or earlier if the funds are exhausted).
Importantly, the program is undergoing changes that are the result of a broad public consultation completed in 2025. Here's what you need to know to effectively prepare your company for the upcoming competition.
Budget and forms of support
The most important news for entrepreneurs is growth Planned allocation. After analyzing the needs of the market, the decision was made to increase the budget from initial PLN 350 million up to PLN 835 million. The conclusions of the public consultation are the modifications sought by the entrepreneurs themselves:
- introduction of the subsidy form: Until now, the program was mainly based on loans with the possibility of bonuses. Currently, following a dialogue with the market and the European Investment Bank, the addition of a classic grant is proceeding, which will significantly improve the profitability of the planned investments;
- Increasing the intensity of support: the work on the project aims to ensure that the Modernisation Fund resources cover a greater part of the eligible costs;
- the reality of the requirements: a reduction in the requirements for final energy savings and an expansion of the investment catalogue are being considered.
What can funds be raised for?
The program is dedicated to companies with a legal title for energy-intensive installation. The main directions of support include:
- construction and reconstruction of RES installations: together with energy storage and the necessary connection to the plant or distribution network;
- Decarbonization processes: implementing low-carbon product manufacturing technologies and switching energy sources to those with a lower carbon footprint;
- Improving energy efficiency: modernization of technological processes (excluding typical thermal modernization of buildings);
- Resource management: measures to reduce the consumption of primary raw materials.

- access criteria: an error in the formalities results in the rejection of the application already at the start;
- quality criteria: your project needs to score a minimum 60% pointsto proceed to the negotiation stage;
- ecological effect: A precise calculation of emission reductions and energy savings is crucial for a positive decision of the NFOŚiGW.
Work is underway on the final shape of the regulations in cooperation with the European Investment Bank, but it is already worth trusting the energy situation of your company. A well-prepared technical project is already half the battle.
